Victor Bansiwar Victor Bansiwar

Founder of VOICE

Victor is the mind and heart behind VOICE. Having worked as an Educationist for many years. Victor grabbed an opportunity that life offered him when circumstances forced him to move to Mumbai. He joined the Catholic Relief Service, an American development agency that uses food and funds for development work among poor. Victor was with them from 1979 to 1987.

In 1986, Victor was placed at the David Sasoon Remand Home where street children were mercilssly wounded up by cops and held in the so-called correctional institute. Thats when the decision was made, to work with such children, who , for no fault of their own are abused, neglected and exploited at every step.

In 1991, Victor and Rajashri began teaching shoeshine boys at three of mumbais busiest railway stations the basics of reaing, writing and arithmetic. Soon after, they went on to set up VOICE, to give street children a voice of their own.

Rajashri began her working life with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and was with them from 1976 to 1986. She also worked with CRY for 5 years and Concern India Foundation. The seeds for her current work were sown during this period.

In 1991, Rajashri and Victor went on to set up VOICE, to respond to the needs of Mumbai's street children. Today, both Rajashri and Victor believe that they're answering a call to provide love, opportunity and justice to children less fortunate than most of us, do that they may be liberated from the shackles of their birth into an enhanced life.

Nikunj a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), founded Systems Plus Group of Companies in 1987. He continues to guide its operations as Chairman. Specializing in business consulting, process re-engineering, information technology and software development, the company has a customer presence in over 20+ countries and offices in India and UK .

Nikunj also funds a charitable organization that distributes medicines to the needy.

Gita Simoes Gita Simoes

Gita first studied art under the guidance of Lady Temple at school, after which she continued at Minneapolis College of Art, USA.

On returning to India in 1964, Gita worked with several leading advertising agencies. In 1971, she joined the Taj Group Hotels to set up their graphic design department. By 1984, Gita had set up her own design studio. Today, she's considered to be one of India's leading graphic designers.

Gita is also the founder Trustee of Hecar Foundation, a non profit organization that seeks to educate the public about heritage, education, conservation, architecture, restoration and urban issues.

Firoza Bhabha Dr. Firoza Bhabha
Doctor

 

Firoza studied medicine at GS Medical College and did her post graduation in paediatrics. For the past 23 years, she has been practicing as Consultant Paediatrician at the Parsi General Hospital and the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. In addition to her medical duties, she is actively involved at the Acworth Leprosy Hospital at Wadala and the old people's ward at JJ Hospital.She is also a trustee with NAAD, which deals with the education of deaf children.

She is currently looking into a healthcare infrastructure project at Sitla in Uttaranchal.

Nimish Kothare Nimish Kothare
Solicitor

 

Nimish is currently a partner at M/s Nanu Hormasjee & Co., Advocates and Solicitors, a law firm in Mumbai with over 100 years' standing.

Having completed his B.Com and LLB at Bombay University, Nimish practiced as a Solicitor at the Bombay Incorporated Law Society, Before he went on to be a Solicitor at England and Wales and Barrister & Solicitor at Ontario in Canada.

Presently, he is actively involved with all these institutions - Bombay Incorporated Law Society, the Bar Council of Maharashtra, The Law Society, London, The Law Society of Upper Canada, the International Bar Association, the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber and the Western India Automobile Association.

Meera Isaacs Mrs. Meera Isaacs

“Meera completed her Master's at the University of Pune and went on to serve in the field of education thereafter. She has been a part of Mumbai's Cathedral & John Connon School for 31 years. First serving as a class teacher for standards 8-12, she went on to become the Head of the Psychology and English Departments, Vice-Principal of the school in 1990 and in 1996, became the school's first woman Principal since its establishment almost a 150 years ago.

Her credo has been to put the child at the center of all educational activities so that he or she is able to grow into a mature, confident person who is able to evolve strategies and shills to deal eith an ever changing (and often challenging) environment.

Meera was also the Chairperson for the International Award for Young People (also known as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, or DEAS) of the West Zone, India. ” till Dec 2007.
