Akshar -Ank -Anubhav

The ultimate goal of education is the all-round development of personality and, therefore, the learning experiences that VOICE provides contribute towards the achievement of this end. We emphasize not only the growth of the cognitive domain (intellectual) but also more importantly the affective and psycho-motor domains (behaviour and attitudes). We recognize the need to imbibe certain basic values as part of the process of growing and learning, even in the most difficult of circumstances. VOICE very consciously focuses on the younger children (3-10 years) as the experience provided to children at this stage can have a more lasting impact in moulding their personality.

1. Akshar – Ank Anubhav Non formal education :

The Akshar – Ank anubhav program forms the core of our activities. Initially, all children are part of the non-formal education process that VOICE provides on the railway station at Andheri and three in-house centres in Dadar, Andheri West and Andheri East. VOICE representatives are in constant touch with the children, earning their trust and at the same time urging upon them the imperative of education.

Today approximately 285 children are being educated because of this interface. These children have begun to discover that education does not merely expand the parameters within which they can think, but it expands the parameters within which they can dream.

• To be able to write neatly and comprehend ideas through listening and reading.
• To be able to apply mathematical concepts and skills to solve simple problems of day-to-day life
• To recognize the importance of
• Regularity and punctuality: children have to develop a habit or style of living where regularity in attending the classes daily and on time becomes a part of their natural course of action.
• Cleanliness: this refers to the basic attitude that an individual develops towards his/her environment.
• Hard work and perseverance
• Sense of duty and service: These manifest as willingness to sacrifice self-interest for the welfare of others while performing one’s duties. It is to create in the child a sense of empathy and readiness to render help voluntarily to people in need.
• Cooperation
• A sense of responsibility: Developing a sense of responsibility can be seen as the readiness of the child to face difficulties and problematic situations with commitment and conviction. This requires building in the children a positive self-image and confidence.
• Truthfulness: This value is so central in determining the behaviour of the child.
• National identity: To develop an enlightened understanding of the commonly accepted framework essential for national unity.
